Victim Support London
Victim Support is the independent, national charity for people affected by crime. Employees and volunteers gave free and confidential information and support to 1,500,000 victims last year, whether or not the crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened. Victim Support comprises four key services: In the Community Service, trained volunteers give emotional support, practical help and information to victims of all crime including burglary, racist and domestic violence, sexual assault and the murder of a relative. We also run the Witness Service, which has a presence in every Crown and Magistrates’ court in England and Wales to support and assist witnesses, before, during and after the trial. Last year the Witness Service helped 273,000 people attending court.
There are 2 Victim Support telephone help lines: Firstly, the national Victim Supportline (0845 30 30 900) which offers support and information in complete anonymity, which has extended out of hours opening times and support during Crimewatch. Secondly, Victim Support Plus makes contact with victims of crime to assess their needs. Once these needs have been identified, we ensure that the appropriate service is provided.
